Anything Can Happen

An amazing thing happened about fifty days after the resurrection of our Lord. Jesus allowed his followers opportunities to talk with him as well as touch him. He spoke life to them and even breathed on them. He walked with them down the road of Emmaus and warmed their hearts on the way. It wasn’t too much for him to eat with them or show the wounds in his side. He is the Christ and is risen just as he promised. Just before He ascended to the Father, he gave some instructions and told them about a power they never had. That I imagine was quite challenging because they had both seen and participated in things you and I would have not shared in. To begin with, I remember the time when I was being taught about the things of God as a new believer, I was told you needed the Holy Spirit to do certain things. When I asked how the disciples went out two by two and even demons was subject unto them; I was told not to be a smart mouth. When Jesus calmed a storm they were told they had little faith. When he raised Lazarus, he reminded them he had already said the sickness was not unto death. I suppose the question would be what would they need if Peter had already walked water, they had already cased out demons two by two, and feed five thousand?

Jesus tells his disciples to go and wait for power. Sometimes we may be aware that we love God but are we honest about the fact that we may not like those He loves? I submit that may be a very big problem. These disciples went to the upper room NOT knowing what to expect. They were simply told to wait for what they never had to do, what they never seen done. As a believer you’ve read the story and know what to expect, but how would you have behaved not knowing what to expect? At this point, ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN! The Lord has a promise that He won’t fill until He’s gone; now doesn’t that just leave me full of anticipation. The first verse in chapter two is both powerful and pivotal. They were with one accord in one place! It would probably take books to explain this one verse. One accord? Did I say, “One Accord”? How difficult was that? Well let’s see, Peter still had bad words in his mouth and a knife on his hip; while Thomas didn’t believe Jesus was alive, and James was Jesus’ brother but on the cross Jesus asked John to take care of his mother. Did we even mention there were women present in the upper room? For these one hundred and twenty to get on one accord was accentual for the evidence of the presence of God to be manifested in their presence as the Holy Ghost. God is faithful and true to His word. When they were on one accord SUDDENLY there was a sound from heaven. When Peter worshiped in love with John suddenly; when Mary became welcome in the room then suddenly. When they didn’t look at Mathias as if he was another Judas, then suddenly. When they all were on one accord then suddenly. I submit to you your next miracle could be as close as simply getting on one accord in love. It’s at that moment that ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN
